Things to do in Kingston

There is plenty to do in the area, so why not go sight-seeing and work up an appetite before coming to visit us.

Enjoy a walk along the river Thames

Enjoy a leisurely walk along the river Thames and catch a glimpse of beautiful, historical sights in Kingston, including Clattern bridge and Kingston bridge which dates back to the 13th century.

Take a stroll through Fairfield park

A park for the community which includes a playground, football fields and a gym. It’s a great place to enjoy a Sunday stroll with the family and dog before enjoying a tasty Sunday roast at the pub.

Get involved in the community

St. John’s church which is right across from The Spring Grove always has plenty on. From live music, to markets, street parties, hosting charity meet-ups, wonderful Sunday services and much more! They have stood as a pillar of the community for as long as us.

Our history

Our pub started off as not just a local watering hole, but rather a grand hotel and the finest building in the area. It caused plenty of excitement as it was signed off as the first Public House in the community. Below, you can find the original ground floor plan.

The ground floor had private and public bars with a serving bar, bar parlour, tap room and public room. A lot has changed since then, Young’s bought the pub in 1896, it is no longer a hotel, and has gone through multiple refurbishments including the most recent one in November 2023.

Although a lot has changed, the thriving community has remained the same. The ‘Spring Grove,’ as the area was formally known, consisted of the Spring Grove hotel, St John’s church, and the school, which all work together to make it the wonderful place it is.
